A Free First Year, Then a Renewal Nobody Has Written Down
For $99 a year, get a New York agent with a registered address on file, same-day scanning of legal documents, and compliance reminders before state deadlines.
Called what it is: a competitor's pitch. NY Registered Agent.org would rather collect your $99 a year than watch it go elsewhere. On a page about a price that does not exist in print, though, one rule governs everything below. Where Inc Authority has published nothing, we invent nothing on their behalf.
Zero Is a Real Number and It Counts in Their Favor
Take a formation package from Inc Authority and year one of agent service carries no charge at all. We looked for the strings these offers usually carry. No activation charge appears, no shortened term, no exit penalty; none of the three is stated anywhere. A company in its first months gets a functioning agent for nothing during the stretch when every dollar is felt most keenly. That is a genuine benefit and it belongs above the objection rather than buried under it.
Year Two Has No Number Attached
The renewal price is not published. In July 2026 we went looking for it in three places: the pricing information on the main site, the answers collected in their help material, and the feature lists attached to the paid formation bundles. It is in none of the three. When a recurring price is absent from all of a company's public surfaces, the industry pattern is that it surfaces at the checkout screen or from a person on a phone call.
Typing a plausible figure into this paragraph would be easy, and it would destroy the reason the paragraph exists, so the number stays missing. The objection does not depend on it. Registered agent service is a standing cost for as long as your entity exists, and you are being asked to take on that cost sight unseen.

New York Hands You Two Kinds of Leverage
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereMost states leave you waiting to see whatever quote eventually arrives. New York does better than that, twice.
The first advantage is that leaving is cheap and the price is written into statute. LLC Law § 1101 sets $30 for the certificate an LLC files to change its registered agent. Against an unknown renewal, thirty dollars is a rounding error, so a quote you dislike can be answered inside a week instead of swallowed for another twelve months.
The second advantage is stranger, and printing it plainly costs us sales, including this one. The certificate that changes an agent can also revoke one. New York permits an LLC to file it and simply have no designated agent afterward, because the state already occupies the role: the Secretary of State receives process for every New York LLC by operation of law, from formation onward, and nothing in your filings can remove that. Revoking a private designation therefore leaves you compliant, not exposed. It is the cheapest exit in the country, and it costs the same $30.
So a New York owner staring down an unquoted renewal has three answers rather than one. Wait for the number and accept it. Move to a provider that prints its number in advance. Or revoke the designation entirely and let the state's own channel carry your documents, at the pace of the mail, to an address anybody can look up. Our preference is obviously the second, since we are the second. All three are legitimate and all three belong on the page.
Both of Our Numbers, Available Now
Ninety-nine dollars this year, ninety-nine dollars every year after, and nobody had to call a salesperson to learn the second one. The fee includes a New York street address standing on your designation instead of your own, same-day imaging of anything a server hands us and an email pushing it to you, a portal that stays open around the clock, and a reminder before the month your $9 biennial statement falls due. Checkout has one item on it and no upsell sequence behind it. Our FAQ handles whatever this page did not.
And the honest footnote to our own row: at $90, BetterLegal advertises less. $99 is among the lowest published flat rates in this state, and unlike the figure two tables up, it is published.
Replacing Inc Authority as Your New York Agent
One certificate handles it. New York calls the document a Certificate of Change, numbers it DOS-1359-f for domestic LLCs, and charges $30 to file. The successor's details go on the form, so line up the replacement before you fill anything in.
Worth saying on this page in particular: a service you never paid for is easy to abandon casually, which tempts owners into closing the account first and dealing with the state whenever. Reverse it. Inc Authority remains your agent of record until the Department of State processes the certificate, and while New York never leaves a company unreachable, the whole reason to pay anyone is to keep incoming documents landing where you can see them. Our change of agent guide has the state's own links.
The right moment is any working day that falls before the free twelve months run out.
